Neve Tzedek at a Glance
Neve Tzedek is Tel Aviv's origin story and its most coveted address. Founded in 1887 โ decades before Tel Aviv itself existed โ it was the first Jewish neighborhood built outside the walls of Jaffa. For much of the 20th century it was neglected and crumbling. Then, starting in the 1990s, artists and architects rediscovered its narrow lanes, low Ottoman-era buildings and Mediterranean light. What followed was one of the most dramatic neighborhood transformations in Israel's history.
Today, Neve Tzedek is a compact, walkable neighborhood of boutique galleries, designer shops, high-end restaurants and beautifully restored buildings where old stone meets floor-to-ceiling glass. The Suzanne Dellal Center for Dance and Theatre anchors the cultural life. Shabazi Street โ the main commercial lane โ is one of the most photographed streets in Tel Aviv. It's small, intimate and expensive.
For renters, Neve Tzedek is a premium choice. Apartments are smaller than in other neighborhoods (space is limited in these historic structures), and prices are among the highest in Tel Aviv. But what you get in return is unique: a village-within-a-city atmosphere, walking distance to the beach, Rothschild Boulevard and Jaffa, surrounded by architecture and culture that no new development can replicate.

Rental Budget Guide
Neve Tzedek is among Tel Aviv's most expensive neighborhoods. The combination of historic charm, cultural prestige and limited supply keeps prices high. Apartments tend to be smaller than in newer neighborhoods, so price-per-square-meter is steep. That said, the range extends from modest older units to spectacular restored properties.

Resident Story
"I came from Brooklyn and was looking for that same energy โ art, food, walkability, culture on every corner. Neve Tzedek has it, but in miniature and with Mediterranean sun. My apartment is tiny by American standards but I spend most of my time outside anyway โ at Suzanne Dellal, on the beach, or having dinner on Shabazi."
